BULLOCK RACE OF CHIKHAL GUTTA The Chikhal Gutta bullock race is a unique traditional event held in the Kolhapur region of Maharashtra, India. Conducted during the monsoon season, the race takes place in waterlogged, muddy fields, where pairs of bullocks, guided by skilled farmers, compete to plow through the challenging terrain. The event is deeply rooted in the agrarian culture of the region, showcasing the strength and coordination of the bullocks, as well as the expertise of the farmers. It attracts large crowds, blending sport with celebration, while also emphasizing the strong bond between the farmers and their animals, essential to their livelihoods.
