Child Holding Rotschildia Moth
A child holds a Rothschildia moth attracted to the trap light in Ecuador's Intag Cloud Forest Region. The child, my eight-year old daughter, is as attracted to the show the moths put on when attracted to the light, as the moths themselves are attracted to the light. Ever since she was able to crawl, we've put up the trap light to delve into the rarely seen wonder of this aspect of the night, which is why she has no qualms at all at holding big, furry moths in her hand. In fact, it's hard to stop her from doing it!
