Child in Peruvian village

I was vacationing in South America and we stopped in a small Peruvian village that specialized in textile work. The child of one of the workers kept smiling at me, and looking at me with hopeful, curious eyes. I saw myself reflected in them and knew at a deeper level we were bonded by something deeper. Our nationalities, languages, cultures and customs may differ, but at our core, we are all human, we are all courageously hopeful and unimaginably creative creatures who have miraculously continued to thrive throughout the ages. The innocence and trust in his eyes gave me strength and hope - every time I look at this picture, it reminds me that no matter what happens, there is and always will be some beauty in the world, and that thought gives me courage.
