20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Chimney Rock from The Opera Box.
It was a gorgeous day that was a mixture of weather types of late summer rain showers with lots of sunshine and humidity. It is a grueling hike up to the various overlooks around Chimney Rock. A rain shower had just come through and scrubbed the skies over Lure Lake of any haze giving a beautiful Vista over the valley looking east.
