Church perch

We traveled to Lyon, France to experience the culture, sights, and unique gastronomic delicacies. Upon walking through the center of Vieux Lyon, we came upon the Roman Catholic Cathedral Sainte-Jean Baptiste built on Place Sainte-Jean between the Saone river and the square. Dedicated to Saint John, construction began in the year 1180 and it was completed in 1476. On the front facade there are numerous small shelf-like bas-relief sculpted carvings that depict scenes from the Old and New testament. The Cathedral is now on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This photo shows a pigeon resting calmly on one of these detailed shelf carvings. t
