18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
City Beauty
This, I believe, is a type of wild iris flower that has now become relatively common in the Bay Area. This one has been captured near Grace Cathedral, in San Francisco. I find lovely the contrast between the wild beauty of the flower and the more regimented, planned structures of the city.
