Mesa Verde is an Ancestral Puebloan site located near Cortez Colorado. It occupies over 5200 acres and is a complex of ancient stone dwellings that was inhabited as recently as about 1285. Cliff Palace is the largest of these dwellings and was home to about 125 people.
