Climbing the stone chest

The photograph is an abstract interpretation of a chest x-ray. The mirrored image accentuates the light and dark of the staircase, forming a symmetric shape that likens it to the density of light passing through a chest when taking an x-ray of it. The column central to the staircase, like a spine, stands strong supporting the stone steps, and as in an x-ray the light moves in and out between the ribs that define the enclosed cavernous structure that is the chest, the shadows and hi-lights move up the staircase until they finally disappear.
