18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Closing Down For the Winter on The Potomac

I live directly across from the C&O Canal (150 feet) at MM 85.2. About 5 minutes from Big Slack Water Boat Ramp. Throughout the day and the seasons, there are multitudes of different colors and shades reflected against the natural landscape. In this image, the different hues associated with late Autumn are prevalent as a portable boat dock is sent to hibernate.
