Cocora Valley Colombia

The mountains and the palm trees at the heart of Andes Central Cordillera are humbling. The Quindio Wax Palm is found in very few places on earth, but it is concentrated at the Cocora National Park in the state of Quindio in Colombia. This awe-inspiring palm can grow between 150-200 feet tall; it is the tallest monocoth in the world. Its uniqueness, beauty and function as the main habitat for such endangered species as the yellow-eared parrot have earned it the title of Colombia’s national tree.
