Coiled Black Rat Snake

Telepathing a warning message On our longer, three-mile morning dog walks, we loop through a business park with a pond where we often see various waterfowl. Today, there weren’t any particularly exciting birds to photograph, but a Black Rat Snake happened to be warming itself on the paved trail, coiled in a pose that practically begged for a photo. While taking shots, I noticed that the snake was blind on one side. After a quick photo session, the snake began making its getaway, but I reached out and gently touched the tip of its tail. In a flash, the one-eyed snake whipped around, coiled up, and made it perfectly clear who was boss.
