Colorful Houses On The Island Of Burano Italy. While vacationing in Venice, Italy, my girlfriend and I visited the nearby island of Burano. All the homes and buildings on Burano are several hundred years old and they are painted bright colors. Since these old homes do not have central air conditioning many residents hang curtains in their doorways so they can open their doors to allow in fresh air and still maintain some privacy from the many tourists on the island. It is a photographer's paradise. We spent 2 days walking all over the island taking pictures. To add interest, I used the tree branches to frame this row of houses.
