The "Sri Krishna Janmasthami" festival (The birth of The Lord Krishna) is celebrated with much gaiety at the Sri Krishna Mutt in Udupi.Among the various programmes to mark the occasion "Huli Vesha" dancers add colour to the event.It is a form of folk dance unique to the "Tulu Nadu" region of Karnataka.The dancers are painted and costumed ike tigers and accompanied by drummers they dance on the streets in this auspicious day.
