Common Merganser Duck Family, American Lakes RMNP
I learned how different ducks take care of their broods in different ways. This Common Merganser Duck mother was in the shallows of the lake hidden. But when she heard possible peril (us approaching) she swam away with her brood following her. The baby ducklings eventually ended up on her back for safety.
