21st Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Artistic
Composite photographs of several parks. The base layer is Great Basin National Park, NV.
The dominant image in this composite piece is of late fall, high desert plants located in Great Basin National Park, NV. These particular plants actually do not have much color in the fall; the color comes from overlaying other, original photographs. The added layers are from Bryce Canyon National Park, UT (pink rocks), Wupatki National Monument, AZ (rocks from archeological site), and the Ruby Mountains in NV; Lamoille Canyon (water flowing over rocks).
