17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Conch and Ray
This picture was taken in Sting Ray City in the Grand Cayman. A shallow and protected sandbar, fishermen would clean their catch before heading into port, and throw the remains into the water where stingrays would congregate to feast. Over the years it became a tourist attraction.
