I took my dad, a Navy veteran from Vietnam, to the USS North Carolina in Wilmington. At 81, he wanted to see the whole ship since he thought it would be the last time he would be able to maneuver through all six stories of the ship. He was most excited to try to get up onto the bridge of the battleship, which on a hot July day was quite the challenge. We made it and were rewarded with gorgeous views of downtown Wilmington across the river.
