14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Cotton Euphoria

I love the southwest and Escalante National Monument is one of those places with beautiful view after beautiful view. I hiked down into Coyote Gulch Canyon and then up the middle of the river until we came to this small waterfall. The Cottonwood tree behind it was displaying beautiful fall colors as the red rock walls glowed behind.
