Cottonmouth

Hiking a trail near any wetland area in the southern US can sometimes bring you closer than you would like to the highly venomous cottonmouth snake or water mocassin as they are also commonly referred to. On this day, I was fortunate to have seen him in the leaf litter, and after a few quick images were taken, we departed ways.
