20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World

While searching for the few remaining cottonwood trees along the Missouri River, I saw this scene from a quarter mile distance. I was drawn to the tree standing resolute in the now harvested corn field as it has done probably over fifty times.
