Crafts of Joy

Filipinos demonstrated their resilience by adapting their handicraft skills to the changing landscapes. With restrictions on traditional marketplaces, crafters shifted to online platforms, such as social media and e-commerce websites, to showcase and sell their products. This adaptation allowed them to reach a wider audience and sustain their craft amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic. Handicrafts served as a tool for community-building and support. Many Filipinos joined hands to create crafts collectively, forming bonds and strengthening relationships within their communities. This fostered a sense of unity, providing a support system that helped individuals cope with difficulties brought about by the pandemic. Engaging in handicrafts has become a therapeutic activity for Filipinos amidst the challenges brought by the pandemic. As restrictions and limitations led to feelings of stress, anxiety, and isolation, Filipinos found solace and distraction through the creative process of crafting. Not only did this help reduce distress and provide an outlet for emotional expression, but it also brought joy to the Filipino people. Through their handicrafts, Filipinos showcase their resilience and ability to find happiness even in difficult times.
