Crane's Call to Roost
Thousands of Sandhill cranes congregate just beyond the river at sunset, waiting for dark to roost on the sandbars. Above the tree line in this photo, there are hundreds of cranes, just a fraction of the total flying in to stage in nearby cornfields.
