I took this photo on the 25th of March 2021 during a demonstration in Rome demanding action to prevent and fight gender-based violence. In Italy, from the beginning of the year more than 109 women are already dead most of them killed within the private sphere of their home, in a “global pandemic of femicide” partly hidden by COVID-19. I got this shot while one male photograph was busy too. Without him being aware, the hidden message of the photo is very strong I feel.
