20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People

This is along Hwy 60 east of the Rio Grande valley. While there were mines, railroad, ranchers and farmers I do not know if this particular house "belonged" to any of those mentioned. The Catholic church, at one time, was essentially the only religion in NM. Adobe was essentially the only building material used in most of these old/abandoned towns. I had imagined, on prior visits to place the church in the picture, as context. The property is nearer a very much newer property with the obligitory, snotty No Tresspassing sign. I tresspassed.
