Cultural Adventure

At Ras al-Khaimah, camel handlers take their camels into the sea for a bath every winter. The salty water from the sea helps them get rid of ticks, fleas and other parasites. Bathing camels in this way is an old Arab tradition, but it is becoming less common in the region due to new hotels and resorts being built along the coastline. There are also more veterinarian clinics available to treat the camels instead.
