Cycle of Life Concluded: Reckoning with the Loss [5 of 5]

On a sunny Saturday morning, a nurse from hospice arrived, filled out the death paperwork, and with the help of the funeral home men, rolled my mother away. I went to her empty disheveled room, took this shot, and broke down crying. For those who have sat vigil by a dying loved one for days, a loved one's death creates a discombobulating void that in your state of sadness and exhaustion is impossible to process in the moment. My neat and tidy mother's room empty and in disarray reflected my emotional state.
