A 14-day bicycle trip from Annecy to Nice via the Route des Grand Alps. The Cormet d’Areche lies between Beaufort and Bourg St Maurice. The final 3 kilometers on both sides of the peak are unpaved, so cyclists and cars are rare. The gravel road required wider tires and the willingness to carry them the first two days of the trip. It was worth the effort.
