Dancing Among the Briars: Joy of Life
On a trip to Slovenia, I loved a folk culture evening, with enthusiastic young folk dancers. A circle dance of interlocking arms was wonderful--but no camera! I sketched it from memory and later sculpted it in clay, with natural "slip"--a mixture of clay colors. Later, when starting a project of humans and nature, I tried a double exposure (digital) with briars I had shot from straight above, accenting the sense of growth, and felt it conveyed the "Joy of Life" I had felt.
