During the long trek through the rice fields the Cajun Courir de Mardi Gras revelers take breaks to dance a little while to the traditional Cajun music that is provided by musicians traveling on floats with them on the parade route. The French Cajun community has managed to keep their unique music, food, and craft traditions intact since their settling the region in the mid 1700's after being expelled from Canada for religious reasons.
