Dante's Inferno
The atmosphere was heavy and the sulfur in the air burned the lungs, throat, and nose as if breathing fire. Obviously we should not be there. The mountain challenged us in every step, and soon a noise like thunder swept the air as a warning to those who dared to venture into the territories of the goddess Etna.
