Dappled

Spring in Yellowstone National Park brings the arrival of bison calves, known colloquially as "red dogs" for their bright, rust-colored coats. In a quiet moment beneath the trees, a young calf suckles, its body painted by the dappled sunlight that patterns its mother's thick hide.
