This flower represents the beauty of life as well as the beauty of darkness and they both must be balanced and united. You see the intensity of the black, the darkness the "bad" as social ideals would lead an individual to believe. The truth of darkness, however, is that the harshness is the only way to be shown the true beauty of light, life, and happiness. So the real question is, which is more beautiful... is it darkness or is it light?
