15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Datoga Metal working tribe

We visited the Datoga tribe which specialize in metal working including arrows, knives, spears, etc. that is then traded or sold to other tribes. They live in small communities in mud/dung huts where we visited them. We where invited in to one hut and I saw these two woman in the corner with light steaming in from a doorway and them shrouded in the smoke from the fire in the hut. It was a very special feeling you had at that time.
