Dead blackbird, Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary, Chicago, IL
The Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary is host to many species of migratory bird. Whilst looking for some of the exciting migrants, I spotted this expired blackbird at rest amongst the moss and seedlings. Though perhaps it seems morbid, I found the scene somewhat touching. New life springing up around death.
