With over 30 years of military service, I wanted to make the last assignment in Washing DC memorable by shooting all the monuments in the area. As i waited on the sunrise, which in this image wold have been just to the right of the Capital Building, I noticed many people stopping to take a quick snapshot before moving on. I said to one couple, if you wait about 7 min, you will see the sun rise between the Capital and the Washington Monument.
