Determination
While traveling in Alaska in 2016 I visited Ketchikan and the State Totem Pole Park there. I learned from Alaska Natives about the hard work and determination that goes into carving this piece of both art and history to be on display, raised well above the heads of visitors. This pole is located at Totem Bight, right next to the Clan House which is equally as impressive as the poles. Having such a well-kept piece of artistic history stare down at you is a very humbling experience, but the art gives you nothing buy hope.
