Diamond miners

Small scale diamond miners in Sierra Leone. The first stage is pumping the water and rocks from the ponds, with larger rocks captured in the chute, allowing the smaller rocks and water to filter through the bottom to container. The water is released from this container back to the pond through a fine gauze, leaving being small stones which are then sifted in search of the all elusive diamonds. They had been at this site for three weeks and had not yet found a diamond.
