Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend
Great Egret in the wetlands of Huntley Meadows Park, Alexandria, VA. At the time this photo was taken, I had just spoken with a park ranger who explained that the male Great Egrets had already begun their migration, so all of the birds I saw that day were likely to be females and their young. We commented on how active the young were as groups played and splashed about in the water. Shortly after, I came across this lady, walking calming alone in the gentle ripples and the lovely afternoon sun. She had just dipped down for a fish but missed and came up with this exquisite diamond droplet instead.
