Diving for Dinner: A Blue Heron makes an autumn catch

It was a Columbus Day weekend and a busy time in Manchester, VT. Despite the nearby activity, a Great Blue Heron stood stoically upon a rock, midstream in the Batten Kill River. In a moment though, the bird spotted a prey, lifted its wings to keep them dry from the water and lunged its head and neck into the river to make a successful catch.
