Donkeys at Cripple Creek

In 1890, Robert Womack discovered gold ore in Cripple Creek, which started the last great Colorado gold rush. Donkeys were an integral part of the mining process, creating reliable transportation over the dangerous slopes. These steadfast animals can still be found in Cripple Creek today.
