20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Dramatic light over large surf on the North Shore of Kaua'i
On this particular day we were spending time at one of of my favorite beaches on Kaua'i watching the surf come in. The light was especially moody as these brighter areas would pop through the overcast highlighting the turquoise color of the water.
