Caribbean Flamingo Close-Up I took this shot while at the MD Zoo in Baltimore, MD. My elderly mother lived in Florida for years, and her favorite bird has always been the flamingo. So whenever I have the opportunity, I try and capture new and exciting shots of them for her, now that she can no longer go out and see them for herself. On this day, the birds were not terribly cooperative. It felt like I had been watching them for hours without anything "great" to show for it. I was just about to give up and move on when this lovely bird walked into this beautiful stream of sunlight and literally just posed for me. I only got off one shot before she moved on, but one shot was all it took.
