Dress code, indoors - serie 05

In this artistic project, I work with the idea of How We dress in quarantine, when we are indoors. In the book called “The Language of Fashion” Barthes introduces the idea that “Nobody dresses in an innocent way” I took Barthes idea to construct my artwork and I wonder: Can the way we dress mean something in itself without the gaze and aproval of others. We always dress to be seen and to show what we want the others to see. Fashion is much more than the clothes we wear. Wearing certain types of clothing give us sense of belonging, identity, affiliation and also separated us from undesired things. In times of lockdown as an artist I ask myself: What happens indoors in these moments? Do we dress in the same way?, Do we keep the same forms if no one it is looking at us?, Does our clothing continue talking about us in isolation? As consumers, we put on certain types of clothes, that means much more than just wearing clothes. Wearing certain clothes has a simbolic value in front of others. The way we dress present the self in a particular way to the world.
