Driftless Artist Portraits. Anne Horjus, Baraboo

I've been traveling to the SW portion of Wisconsin the past couple of years photographing artists that live in the region. It's called the Driftless Area because it’s been untouched by the glaciers that flattened most of the rest of the state. What’s been left untouched is an idyllic, rolling countryside filled with natural beauty, talented artists and cows, lots of cows. I have some of my own art hanging in a gallery in Mineral Point, WI. and I pitched the idea to the owner (who is well connected) of taking portraits of the local artists. Since then I’ve made several trips, not only taking portraits but getting to know these fascinating people. The best part is that we often barter the portraits I take for something that they have created, which has filled my home with beautiful memories.
