We had had some very wet weather on this particular day. As the morning gave way to afternoon, the clouds gave way to sunny skies. It was a work day for me but I stopped on my route to breathe in some fresh air and get some sun on my face. As I was readying to hop out of my car this bird was in the gravel right next to me. I rummaged around to grab my camera as his beautiful red feathers caught my eye. He flew into the tree before me and I started snapping is pictures. His feathers were clearly still wet as I watched him groom himself. I was most pleased with this image as he is surrounded by his beautiful natural habitat.
