Early morning in the land of the Tengger tribe, near Mount Bromo in East Java, is a stunning sight. As the sun rises, mist often covers the vast caldera, with the peaks of Mount Bromo and nearby volcanoes standing tall. Tenggerese farmers, wearing traditional sarongs and headscarves, start their day by working in terraced fields on the mountainsides. They tend to their crops and care for their horses, which are used for farming and guiding tourists up the volcano's rugged paths.
