East Brother Island, San Francisco Bay
Tiny East Brother Island is the smallest inhabited island in San Francisco Bay. Only one acre in size, it is home to a Victorian lighthouse and attached keeper's house, plus a few outbuildings. As the lighthouse has been automated, no keeper is required and the house has been converted to a small bed-and-breakfast. The island is also home to one of the few remaining compressor-driven diaphone foghorns in the U.S.
