'Échame una manita, manito! (Give me hand, friend!) is part of a 10 shot photo series I took in Mexico City, with the purpose of recognizing and uplifting the work of manual laborers and service workers in my hometown as more than just "functional" beings, while simultaneously highlighting the beautify of the quotidian in Mexican livelihood. With these hands, they each carry an individual story, and create their own form of craftsmanship. This particular shot captures an intimate moment between a very kind talented street vendor and my family, who was looking forward to indulging in his delicious culinary creation. I wanted to immortalize this moment because witnessing his heavily scarred tattooed arms skillfully cooking for us was truly an honor, and worth more than any combination of words possible.
