14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Ecosystem
A giant anteater feeds on a termite mound cohabited by bioluminescent beetle larvae in Emas National Park, Brazil.
Editor's Note, April 27, 2018: After initially awarding Marcio Cabral its Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award for this image, the United Kingdom's Natural History Museum withdrew that recognition after discovering that the anteater in the photo was in fact a taxidermic specimen.
