18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Education matters.

Education is a categorized entity like consumption. Just as purchase, selecting and applying items are economically adjusted by the purchase power, education level also depends on the social class level. Culture is transferred to next generation through education. If education is the only way to pass culture, considering culture a categorized entity, then there will be cultural divercities even in one united society. The question is who is to blame here when there are maltreatments? People or the education system? If we are to see maltreatments in society such as crowding, documenting and avoiding helping during incidents like the wholesale burning of Plasko building, lack of education is to blame. If the same crowd was educated how to apply their smart devices in order to help, the crowding and the documenting would turn into informing, aiding and cooperating. The aim of this project is to say that culture is not something to be transferred genetically. It needs education. This photo depicts the lack of education in developing countries which causes massive crowds in the incident location after every painful incident. The reflection of two different pictures of proper mass education and lack of mass education for nations.
